These rose head silicon bronze ring shank nails are a one-of-a-kind fastener made exclusively for Fair Wind Fasteners and unavailable anywhere else. Originally developed in partnership with a historic Newport antique home restoration firm, they combine the decorative elegance of a traditional rose head with the superior holding power of a ring shank, all in corrosion-resistant 655 silicon bronze alloy.
The raised, faceted rose head adds that rustic beauty and vintage aesthetic anywhere the nails head might be seen. The ring shank (also referred to as a threaded shank) locks into wood fibers as the nail is driven, resisting withdrawal forces that would cause a smooth-shank nail to back out over time. Together, these features make this nail exceptionally well-suited for face nailing applications where both holding strength and finished appearance matter.
Silicon bronze is the material of choice for boatbuilders, historic preservationists, and restoration contractors. It is highly resistant to corrosion in both marine and exterior environments, it will not react with copper flashing or copper-treated lumber, and it develops a rich, warm patina over time that complements natural wood beautifully. Unlike stainless steel, silicon bronze will not cause tannin staining in high-tannin species such as white oak, teak, or cedar.
Ideal applications include:
- Antique and historic home restoration
- Decorative face nailing on wood siding, trim, and flooring
- Traditional wooden boat construction and repair
- Exterior woodwork requiring a period-correct or heritage aesthetic
