Why Phosphor Bronze and not the Typical Silicon Bronze?
We chose to have our clevis pins machined from C51900 Phosphor Bronze instead of the typical C65500 or C65100 silicon bronze that most of our fasteners are made of. Why? Superior tensile strength. While silicon bronze is better for corrosion protection below the water line, phosphor bronze offers a higher tensile strength for rigging applications where clevis pins are normally used. Phosphor bronze will still offer more than ample corrosion protection above the waterline and will last many lifetimes while providing a higher strength pin.
