Our bronze external tooth lock washers have teeth that bite in to the material being fastened to provide maximum torsional resistance. Often referred to as "Star Washers" they are used to lock the head of a bolt or a nut to keep it from backing off.
While bronze external tooth lock washers work great in marine applications due to the bronze alloy, they are most often used in electrical applications such as for grounding or attaching terminals. Bronze is an excellent conductor and won't rust or otherwise corrode in critical marine or electrical applications.
These tooth lock, or star washers are made from C51900 Phosphor Bronze instead of the typical C65500 or C65100 silicon bronze that most of our fasteners are made of. Why? Superior tensile strength.
