Fair Wind Fasteners is proud to offer our new Screw Lube thread lubricant. Made of natural waxes and oils, our screw lubricant will help drive wood screws home using less torque, meaning fewer stripped heads, less strain on those wrists, and also acts as a protectant, sealant, and will help eliminate galling on nuts and bolts.
Our screw lube is the perfect viscosity for staying stuck on those threads, while still being thin enough to spread the length of the screw when driving. It's a significant improvement over commonly used beeswax or paraffin wax which tends to be brittle and falls away as soon as the threads are driven in.
The ingredients in Screw Lube will also help protect your fasteners over time. It can be used for more than just wood screws, as it also acts as an anti-seize compound for nuts and bolts. Protect from corrosion, and allow for easier removal years later by dabbing on a little Screw Lube!
Sold in a 4oz tin, enough for a couple hundred wood screws and over double the amount that screw waxes are normally sold in. Developed with the help of wooden boat professionals, chemists, and a quite a bit of hands-on testing.
I’m giving it a 5 as I’m certain it’s a great product. I didn’t use it on my project as I thought I would. I did run a couple of screws as a test and found that when using, it did provide a smooth joining of the test pieces. However, when using different levels of lube, I notice lube bleed / saturation at the surface when screwing into countersunk screw holes in aquatex plywood. To eliminate, the screw tip could just barely have any lube. I’ll use it on my next project.
The quality was high, exactly what I ordered arrived promptly. I don’t know how the transaction could have been any better.

We used the lube to attached an exterior rain screen. The screen was made of charred Japanese wood planks and as a result of the process of charring, the planks are very hard. The lube helped in keeping us from over-tightening the screws and stripping out the heads.
Small investment to save time and issues.
Needed some antique bronze screws in odd sizes for an antique coat rack. Fairwinds had the screws I needed and shipped them quickly. When I ordered they recommended Screw Lube. Had never used it before but it made the screws much easier to drive.
